Charles "Sarge" Holden

Charles “Sarge” Kenneth Holden, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain.
Mr. Holden was a native of Transylvania County, born to the late Frank and Bertha Mason Holden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Nail Holden; a son, Donald Wesley Holden; a daughter, Felicia Ann Holden; three brothers, Richard Holden, Carroll Holden, and Donald Lee Holden; three sisters, Lois Galloway, Dorothy Moore and Ruth Bryson and a grand daughter, Amanda Rachel Krofchick.
Charles was a faithful servant and deacon at Skyland First Baptist Church and a member since 1970. He was part of the brotherhood ministry and served on several mission trips. He was a Veteran with 30 years of military service; 4 years Air Force and 26 years Army Reserve where he held many roles. Charles retired from the DOT in 1994 with the location and survey’s division.
He is survived by his daughter, Regina Holden Krofchick and her husband, Dan; five grandchildren, Brandy Creasman, Jason Aytes, Alexander Holden, Eric Bassett, Lisa Holden; six great-grandchildren, Cody Creasman, Gabe Allen, Carson Creasman, Lauren Aytes, Anabelle Holden and Rebekah Allen
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Skyland First Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Ponder officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the Church. The service will be streamed on the church’s YouTube channel. Interment with military honors will follow at New Salem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the deacons from Skyland First Baptist Church.
In Lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the “brotherhood ministry” of Skyland First Baptist Church, 2115 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704.

We loved Ken or Sarge as everyone liked to call him. He was such a sweet man and a wonderful friend to all that knew him. May God bless you all with comfort knowing he is with his Margaret now.

I remember the first time I ever met Mr. and Mrs. Holden, such amazing people. I know he’s missed his daughter so much the last few years, but he’s at home with his beloved wife and family. God bless.
