CHARLES W. DIXON, JR. Charles Westley Dixon, Jr., of 85 Sardis Road, Asheville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2006, at his home. Mr. Dixon was born June 8, 1929, in Winchester, KY, to the late Charles Westley Dixon, Sr. and Laura Dillingham Dixon. He graduated from Sand Hill High School and Asheville-Biltmore College. He served in the US Navy on board the USSLSMR 404 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bell South in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of Hominy Masonic Lodge No. 491. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Dottie Hopkins Dixon; one son, Charles Westley Dixon III (Chuck) and his wife Becki; one daughter, Laura Dixon-Conley and her husband Randy; and one brother, Calvin T. Dixon and his wife Carol. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Mausoleum chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Ray Woodby officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by the Hominy Lodge. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. His family will receive friends at the chapel immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

I tell everybody about calling Mr Charles ‘uncle’.
