Charles Wilburn Brown

Charles Wilburn Brown, 88, of Candler, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at Aston Park Healthcare Center.

Born February 15, 1937 in Buncombe Co., Charles was a son of the late Jesse Brown and Carrie Jackson Brown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Shope Brown, sisters, Rosalee Carver and Elsie Smith, and a brother, Louis Brown.

Mr. Brown was the founder of Asheville Paint & Decorating. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the Florida Keys.

Surviving are his children, Bobby Brown (Susan), Marilyn Lanier (Johnny), and Norma Jean Scarborough (Rick); step-son, Robert Shope; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, James Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
