  18. Aunt Aileen, Markie, Kathy, Rita
I am so sorry for your loss. Pam and I met Charlie once at the Nix Family reunion and immediately fell in love with him; what a great guy. I miss you all and my prayers are very much with you.

  19. Sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. Was a salesman in his Candler store in the late 70’s and always enjoyed passing time with him. Was just talking to someone a few days ago and was thinking of him and his store.

  20. I was thinking about Charlie today for some reason. I worked for him at the Winn Dixie store in Candler (opened it in fact) in high school and through college (7 years). I’m saddened to learn today that he has passed away 6 years ago. He was a good man, and treated me well. He was my first manager. I left for graduate school in 1984 and bumped into him only once in my career and travels after that. I would have like to have seen him more in life but I’ve lived coast to coast and the mountains of NC did not make it into the schedule as much as I’d liked. Thanks Charlie for hiring me and offering the favor you showed me in work. You helped me get a good start in life and for that I am truly grateful. Been a long time since we’ve spoken but I’ve thought of you often.

    Peace be to you,

    Bob Haley
