Charlie Lee Bullman, 93, of Asheville, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at The Laurels of GreenTree Ridge.
Born March 17, 1931, in Buncombe Co., Charlie was a son of the late James and Melinda Buckner Bullman. He was also preceded in death by his 8 siblings.
Mr. Bullman was the owner of Bullman Enterprises, and was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. He started East Asheville Youth activities, where he served as President for over 50 years. He touched the lives of thousands of East Asheville children. He spent many years volunteering with the Asheville City Parks and Recreation. The ballfield complex in Haw Creek is named after him: Charlie Bullman Park. He also coached at Warren Wilson College and coached a women’s softball team who played in championships all over the U.S. He was inducted into the North Carolina Softball Hall of Fame.
Surviving is his wife, Elsa Ohman Bullman; daughter, Lynn Davis (Eric); son, Danny Bullman (Beth Caskey); grandchildren, Corey Bullman, Jeromy Bullman, Ashley Auldredge, Charlie Davis and Brayden Davis; great-grandchildren, Ella Auldredge, Jaxon Bullman and Blake Bullman; and daughter-in-law, Patti Bullman.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lewis Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 777 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.

Dear Elsa, Lynn(Bulldog) and the rest of the family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Charlie. He was such a a great man and I am proud and honored to have been a member of his softball team. I have many great memories and was able to go places I thought I would never see because of his generosity and sponsorship of our team. Bullman’s gum was always our secret weapon. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Charlie was a great man. Known and loved by so, so many people.
Over the years, ever since I can remember, my dad would tell me things that he and his Uncle Charlie had done and things that Charlie had taught him. Never a bad thing or word about Uncle Charlie.
My dad passed away about eight months ago, so I have no doubt that they are together again in heaven. 🙏🏼✝️🙏🏼
Elsa and Lynn , I send my broken hearted sympathies to you during this difficult time . I truly do not know where my life would have been without the 12 years I was blessed to play for Charlie’s teams . So many wonderful memories and friendships were cultivated thanks to Charlie’s time and sponsorships .
The Bullman family is in my heart on this day and everyday .

Our neighborhood will surely not be the same without dear Mr. Charlie.
God’s enduring comfort to you, Elsa. I remember what a devoted couple you and Charlie were, and how proud and happy you made him.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Our daughter Amy played for Charlie as a little girl and then as a college student. I was very fortunate to coach with Charlie. There is a reason the park is named for Charlie. He worked tirelessly to promote girls softball.
