Christine Warren Howell, 77, of Candler, died on Monday, December 24, 2012, at her home. Mrs. Howell was a native of Buncombe Co., and was a daughter of the late Berlin and Lucy Cristopher Warren. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Calvin Howell; and a brother, Clyde Warren. Mrs. Howell had worked at both American Enka and Kellwood Corp. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Howell is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Alvin Howell; sons, Steven Howell and wife and Regina, and Timothy Howell and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Steven J., Grady, and Justin Howell; great-grandchildren, Steven James and Brady James Howell; siblings, J.B. Warren and wife Bobby, Irene Kent and husband Roy, Alene Lance and husband Jack, and Shirley Proffit and husband Gene; and caregiver, Kathy Overman. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Mrs. Howell will lie in state beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Winebarger and the Rev. Tim Wafford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven, Grady, Justin, Ronnie, and Randy Howell, and Todd Hipps.
