It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Christopher Kendall Rowden at Advent Health on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

He was born January 18, 1966 in Asheville and was a resident of Flat Rock. He was a graduate of Warren Wilson College and was associated with Carolina Landscapes.

He is survived by his parents, Joe and Joyce Almon Rowden of Fletcher; sister, Missy Lindsey of Asheville, and his companion Rebecca Burnette of Flat Rock.

He was a loving and devoted son, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him..

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or to Eliada Homes (Eliada.org).

Kenny as most of his college friends knew him always remember the fun shared, especially playing on the Wilson baseball team. His enthusiasm and hard work both in the classroom and on the athletic field created lifelong friendships and good memories. I/we send our sincere heartfelt condolences. May he rest in peace!   12. My condolences and prayers to the Rowden family. Kenny was like a brother to me growing up in Bent Creek. I was lucky to have him as a friend through the early years.

  13. So sad to hear that my brother has passed. We loved Kenny, and the world has lost a good one. Foot / sock is what we used to say to each other, on double plays. He was my shortstop at Warren Wilson College, and I played second base. Our prayers are with you.

  16. So sorry to hear of the loss of my dear friend. Our friendship spanned beyond coach and player on the baseball field to friends and coworkers post college. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
