Clarence Theodore "Ted" McKinney

Clarence Theodore “Ted” McKinney, 91, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at home.

He was born July 13, 1933 to the late Louis and Josie McKinney. After a 21-day courtship, Clarence married Barbara Cain, and they were married 71 years until her death. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Louis McKinney.

Clarence was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping with his family, hunting, fishing and family cookouts. He will be forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca Ann Garreau of Cumming, GA, Diane McKinney Green of Asheville, and Kevin Lane McKinney of Asheville. He was blessed with 5 generations, survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Garreau, Jesse Garcia, Richard Messer, Kevin McKinney, Jr., Mason Messer, Cameron McKinney, Corey McKinney and Conner Stamey.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
