Claude Charles Whiteside, 68, of 329 Oakview Park Road, Asheville, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Whiteside was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Homer Davis and Myrtle Enid Whiteside. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Armour Davis Whiteside. He was retired from the Biltmore Company.
Surviving are two daughters, Laura Hackett of Fairview and Kathy Cannady of Troutville, VA; three sons, Dean Whiteside of Englewood, FL, Larry Whiteside of Fletcher and David Whiteside of Fairview; daughters-in-law Darlene Whiteside, Donna Whiteside and Pam Whiteside; sons-in-law Curtis Cannady and Scott Hackett; his longtime friend Ethel Green; two sisters, Jean Ann Angel of Leicester and Sue Case of Hayesville; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Austin Watts officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of Larry Whiteside, 180 Windy Hollow Lane, Fletcher.

I work with Claude at Biltmore Farms for six years up till he retired. He taught me a lot and I missed him after he retired. I will miss him.My condolences to the family.
