Guestbook

  1. Clyde was one of the greatest men we ever knew. He would go out of his way to lend a hand if anyone needing his help. Clyde has meant a lot to his family, friends, neighbors and especially his community. His mark will be left standing in many homes and businesses in the Asheville area. Clyde will be greatly missed but, he is now with the love of his life, happy and healthy again.

  2. We are so glad we had the opportunity to meet Clyde. His service to his country will not be forgotten. His memory is a blessing.

  3. Clyde will forever have a special place in my memories. He built one house for me and my husband and contributed to the other two. He and Adelia were special friends of Ted and Ruby Young and their family. He was a great man and a gentle soul.

  4. I have so many fond memories of Uncle Clyde. I know he is in Heaven with Adelia praising God. May God comfort you all during this time.

  5. Debbie, Steve, Heidi,Lisa and Scott
I’m so sorry to hear about Uncle Clyde. God has gained a new angel and he’s sitting high with Aunt DeeDee now. Sending prayers and hugs to all y’all. Love y’all

  6. Every aspect of Clyde’s life and work was fashioned to the Golden Rule. Clyde always had a welcoming word and hand shake or a hug for everyone passed through the door at FBCA. Clyde shared Golden Rule stories of growing up in Gerton, WW2 then pushing wheelbarrows in Black Mountain to building seemingly almost everything in Asheville. Dedication to the Golden Rule was one of Clyde’s keys to success. And he gave me one, just like his. Thank you Clyde.

  7. Steve, Debbie and Family,
I so enjoyed knowing your Mom and Dad when they were parents at AC Reynolds, and then when we joined First Baptist, lo and behold there again my paths passed with Clyde and DeeDee. Never saw either of them without a smile, such good people. May you find peace and comfort knowing they are together again, just keep the good memories close to your heart and they will be with you until we all meet again.
    Hugs and Love,
    Jake

    • Thanks, Jake. I have such fond memories of you and ACR. You helped make high school special. Please know that you are so loved, dear one.

      • Thanks Debbie, I appreciate your kind words. I have been retired for 22 years now, but I still miss my association with the students and teachers, ACR was a good school community to work in. Take care.

  8. Mr. Maxwell is now reunited with his lovely wife. He also is with his pal and neighbor my Uncle Jack Sorrells. Prayers for all the family.

  9. I married into the Maxwell clan in 1959 and was overwhelmed with how many aunts and uncles my husband, Carroll, had. I enjoyed them all and the families loved getting together on many occasions. Even though we moved to California in 1961, we managed to get back many times. Condolences to Clyde’s family and thank you for the many fond memories.

  10. We got to know Mr. Maxwell when he walked Bee Ridge Road. It was always a joy to chat with him as he walked by the house. He has been missed since he moved away and will really be missed now. So sorry for your loss.

  11. We are very sorry to hear about Clydes passing. We only had the pleasure of enjoying his company a few times, which lhas left us with a lasting impression. Rest In Peace Clyde.

  12. Debbie & Steve,
Such a sad time but know your parents were so special. I have numerous memories of them both from AC Reynolds, First Baptist, and the community. They were the kindest people. As Dr Sherman would say: “They are good folks.” Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. We are so glad we had the opportunity to meet Clyde, such a special and kind person with the biggest heart! Our condolences to the family wishing you strength and healing.
Shirley, Peggy and Lisa ~ your cousins in Idaho

  14. To me, Clyde Maxwell was the perfect example of a member of the “Greatest Generation”. He was a true treasure with his stories of his war experiences which I totally enjoyed listening to his times in the service. His frequent visits in our home while on his long neighborhood walks was always a welcoming time for us. His smile and laugh was infectious. I miss our times with Clyde. As fine a man as you will ever know. Rest easy now. +
