Connie Rogers Martinez

Mrs. Martinez was born in the Quebec section of Transylvania County and was a daughter of the late Toliver Simpson and Leona Fisher
Whitmire.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Fleetwood B. Rogers in 1985 and John Martinez in 1989,  a son, Richard B. Rogers in
1980, a grandson, Michael Gaddy in 1994, and a brother, Roy Whitmire, in 1999.

She was  employed as a store manager of both an exclusive
lady’s dress shop and more recently a department store, both in San Francisco, where she lived for 46 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Neiswanger of Lacey, WA and Betty R. Daramus of Asheville;  a step-son, Joseph W.
Martinez of San Francisco;  two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Canton and Eula Pressley of Clyde;  nine
grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral
Home with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Whitmire Family Cemetery in Transylvania County.

Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
