D. Guy Queen, 83, of 89 Haw Creek Circle, Asheville, died Saturday, September 11, 2004, at his home. A native of Burke County, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Elda Rada Patton Queen. He was retired from American Enka, a US Marine Corps veteran of WWII, a member of VFW #891 and Groce United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen Jordan Queen; a daughter, Susan Townsend of Fletcher; a son, Randy Queen and his wife Melba of Asheville; four grandchildren, Steven Queen of Asheville, Christopher Queen and his wife Amy of Charleston, Brandon Queen of Greensboro and Amanda Townsend of Fletcher. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Chris Bryant offcicating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Chris Queen, Brandon Queen, Steven Queen, Allen Queen, Terry McCall and Gary King serving as pall bearers. His family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of Randy and Melba Queen, 464 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
