    I can’t tell you how sorry I am about Danny’s passing. He was such a wonderful man. I will never forget when David and I would come for a visit and bring corn and vegetables from our garden. We loved coming to your house and talking with you all. You are all such blessings to us. I know that Danny is up there right now with David and my Daddy praising the Lord and thanking Jesus. We know that we will see them all again. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if I can do anything at all. I love you both.

  10. Following (with permission) is Ashley’s poem written for Danny about his journey with his brother Dennis:

    You and Me, Brother
    You and me brother, you and me!
    Let’s run to the woods and play!
    We’ll dig in the dirt and
    Climb some trees–
    We won’t come home all day!
    And when they call us to take a bath,
    We’ll hide down by the creek!
    We’d rather be grimy and dirty and muddy
    Than to ever be clean and neat!
    You and me, brother! You and me!
    We’ll face the world today!
    Now we’re men at 12 and 13!
    We might even have to shave!
    And did you see that girl at school?
    I think she has eyes for you!
    Yep, you’re blushing but that’s okay!
    I caught her blushing too!
    You and me, brother! You and me!
    I’ll need you by my side!
    My palms are sweating and
    I might pass out
    When I see my beautiful bride!
    Make sure to keep me steady and calm,
    Her family’s here, you know!
    Wait–there’s the bells! It’s starting now!
    I guess it’s time to go!
    You and me, brother! You and me!
    I can’t believe that we’re both dads!
    Sure they cry a lot and I’m dead on my feet
    But it’s really not that bad;
    The baby reached for my finger today
    And my heart really skipped a beat!
    Who knew something so innocent and small
    Could make our lives complete?
    You and me, brother, you and me,
    We’ll find the strength today;
    We’ll walk through this house we grew up in
    Capturing memories along the way;
    In our minds we’ll see her by the stove,
    We’ll picture him in his chair;
    We’ll talk about the life they gave us,
    A life we were privileged to share;
    And though they’ve gone on we cling to their teachings,
    We remember the love that they grew;
    For their legacy still lives on
    In the hearts of our children,
    And it shines there bright and true!
    You and me, brother, you and me!
    Let’s sit and talk awhile,
    These lives we’ve lived
    Have not been easy but
    We wouldn’t trade a mile;
    The two of us have seen our share
    Of heartaches big and small,
    But God our Father, never left us,
    He held us through it all.
    You and me brother, you and me,
    We said goodbye today;
    I wasn’t ready to let you go but I wouldn’t make you stay;
    You closed your eyes and left this earth,
    And woke up with the Son;
    Your journey here had come to an end
    But your new life had begun!
    You took a breath!
    A full, deep breath!
    Without a hint of pain!
    And now you live by golden shores,
    Our loss is Heaven’s gain!
    You and me, brother, you and me,
    We’ll meet again someday;
    And there won’t be a clock or setting sun
    That will send us on our way;
    Instead we’ll have eternity to laugh and talk and share;
    And those we’ve loved who have gone before
    Will gather with us there;
    But until we meet again please know
    You were all I hoped to be;
    And one day soon we’ll both be there,
    My big brother, you and me.

  11. LaVerne and Brian,
    Buddy and I were so sorry to read that Danny had passed away. We have just not been good about keeping up with friends.
    You are both such kind hearted people that I know this is hard for you. Thankfully you have each other for support as well as your many friends and your faith.
    You are both in our thoughts and prayers.
