Daron Nelson Clayton, 36, of Caldonia Dr., Candler, died Monday, July 30, 2012. A native of Paragould, Arkansas, he was a son of Joseph D. Clayton of Marmaduke, Arkansas, and Peggy Short of Fulton, KY. Daron moved to Asheville in 1985, and was a 1993 graduate of North Buncombe High School. Following graduation he joined the Air Force. Since 2000, Daron has been a manager and operating partner with Fatz Cafe, and more recently moved to the corporate level as a training coordinator. He was a former member of the Rotary Club. In addition to his parents, Daron is survived by his wife, Chelsie Leah Clayton; daughters Cassie, Memphis, and Taylor Clayton; sisters Rebecca Buchanan and Tanya Warren; mother-in-law Debra Shetley and her husband, Steven; father-in-law Floyd Stiles; and by a number of nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Bubba". A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday at Freedom Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shannon Franklin, Sam Price, Matt Little, David Shetley, Jeremy Whitted, Dan Collins, and Gregg Ray. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daron Clayton Memorial Fund for his daughters, c/o the Enka Branch of First Citizens Bank.
