David Mitchell Sluder

David Mitchell Sluder, 84, of 19 Old No. 20, Asheville, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at the Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Sluder was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Charles E. and Annie Hawkins Sluder. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Beulah Radford Sluder, who died March 10, 2002. He was an Air Force veteran and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Costner and her husband David of Lexington, SC; one son, David Martin Sluder and his wife Ann of Asheville; two sisters, Ella Mae Jones of Leicester and Lillian Dycus of Asheville; two brothers, Charles Sluder of Alexander and Bob Sluder of Candler; five grandchildren, David Mitchell Sluder, Michelle Sluder McGlothlin, Jennifer Costner Greene, Laura Costner Summerlin, and Julie Costner O’Kelly; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah Marie O’Kelly, Alex Channing McGlothlin, Evan Costner Greene and Rebecca Ross Greene.
A celebration service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Byron Greene officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Asheville High ROTC at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and requests that memorials be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Mt. Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
Specials thanks from the family to Dr. Joel Rosenberg and the employees of Mountain Area Hospice.
Uncle David will be deeply missed by all. He was always wonderful to me my whole life, as he was to everyone in the family.

David, I am sorry for the lost of your father. I know what it is like to loose a loved one but, I just have to keep looking up. I know that they are in a much better home than they were here with no more suffering and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family during your time of grief..
