David R. Suttles, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday June 24, 2022.

He was the son of the late Robert Merrit and Lucille Taylor Suttles.

David loved God, family and fishing and enjoyed the outdoors. He served the City of Asheville for 27 years as a firefighter, including time as the Captain of Station #5.

Surviving to honor his memory are his daughters, Cyndi O’shields (Donnie) of Brevard, Melissa Fortune (Brian) of Leicester and his grandchildren, Tre, Jayla and Ayden.

Per his wishes, no formal service will be held at this time. Family, friends, flowers and memorials will be received at the daughters’ residence.

The family wishes to provide a special thank you to Accordius Health in Hendersonville for providing such loving and dedicated care to David.

    Very intelligent. So funny! I loved him and he loved me. We had many long conversations on the phone.
    Rest easy my dear cousin. You are not with the family that you missed so much.

  5. I am so sorry to hear this. I loved David and we would talk on the phone for hours. I really enjoyed our conversations. I remember how he used to scare the kids at Halloween by putting speakers in the trees. He was always so funny. You will be missed. Rest in peace my sweet cousin.

  6. So sorry to hear of David’s passing. I was David’s cousin. My mother, Lucy, was his father’s sister. Our fathers, Alfred and Robert, were best friends. My brother John and I have many fond memories of David and we will miss him. Our thoughts are with you.
