Marilyn and Amy: From the first time Denny and I met back in school, and through the years that followed, our family’s lives have been entwined like a fine basket. Through good times and bad, we remained friends and will miss him, but as we enter the winter of life, I suppose a Marine was chosen to lead the way. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. – Bob and Carol Blackwell

My dear neighbor. One of the best reasons to live here was Denny. I knew he really cared about my family. It was like having a big brother looking out for me. I used to love hanging out in my driveway talking to him. He knew everyone. I felt like I was really somebody when folks would drive by. I was really somebody. I was one of Denny’s friends. When the roll is called up yonder I hope I’ll be there. Until we meet again my dear friend. Marilyn and Amy I send you my deepest sympathy. He adored you.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. These past few years must have been very hard for you. Please know that you are on my mind often. Love Karen and Frank Stroupe

Marilyn, Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We were so sorry to hear about Dennis, He always took the time to speak to me at Ingle’s and anyone else who happened to come by us. Dennis always blew his horn at me on his way to get a newspaper when I was out feeding the cats! He was a super nice guy at Enka where I first met him, and ran back into him at St. Josephs Hospital when both our moms had vascular surgery the same day in 2002. We will keep you and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Dennis & Neil Jordan

Wow, it is now, Today, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 that I am only now, seeing this about Dennis. We really had a great time together. During Candler Elementary, we never took the road but was always going thru the neighbors back yards to get from his house to my house. And did we have fun when we had snow days!! Dennis was always so nice & respectful to my mother up until a few weeks before she passed. She would always ask when was the last time I had seen him & if he was doing ok? Every year, during the Holidays at Christmas, we always ran into each other somewhere. But this past Christmas, something was different, I kept waiting to look up & see him standing there or hear him call my name, but certainly didn’t think about this …………Tomorrow will be different when going to the Post Office, getting some gas or at the red light. Dennis be good, tell everyone ‘Hello’ & I will see you soon. Dennis (Rickman)
