Fairview ~ Dewey C. “Pap-Paw” Sexton, 83, of 68-B Owenby Cove Road, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 29, 2002 at his residence.
A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Sexton was a son of the late Stella Wilson and Greenberry Franklin Sexton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a retired truck driver for Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mavoureen Mullinax Sexton of the home; two sons, Jack M. Sexton and his wife, Shirl, and Larry A. Sexton and his wife, Ruth, all of Florida; four daughters, Anna Jean Banks, Betty S. Reed and her husband, Jimmy, Norma R. Nelson and Jo Ann S. Tipton and her husband, Mike, all of Fairview; a sister, Lorein Thomas; four brothers, Jim Sexton, Minuard Sexton, Conley Sexton and Verlon Sexton; eighteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Minister Steve Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.

Sharon…So sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. Altho I never really met him I feel as tho I knew him because of the talks we used to have at work. May God bless and forever keep you in his care.
