Diana Ruth Hempel

Diana Ruth Hempel, 100, of Asheville, NC passed away at the Laurels of Summit Ridge on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was preceded in death by her parents Kurt Martin Hempel and Seffie Steinhart Hempel.

She is survived by her sister, Isabelle Hempel of the home.

She worked for Southern Bell for 40 years as an Operator and eventually in Repair Service. She was a very good cook and baker and enjoyed working in her garden. She particularly enjoyed raising tomatoes.

Diana will be dearly missed by her sister.

A Graveside Service is planned for Monday, October 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Skopak, officiating.

Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
