Dixie Harris Hawkins, 90, of 55 Dix Creek #1, Leicester, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at her
residence.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ethel Trull Harris and
step-father Rev. Will McFalls. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Artamus Hawkins and a daughter Sylva Beaver. She was a former employee of American Enka, Square-D and Roses and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Her survivors include a daughter, Shelby Hawkins of Leicester; sons, W. Ansell Hawkins of Swannanoa, Sherrill B. Hawkins of Asheville, Harold Hawkins of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Revs.
Darrell Branim and Philip Dunlap will officiate with burial following in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 Thursday at the funeral home.

We know that Dixie is up in heaven right now with Dean and all her loved ones gone before. she always had a smile and we will miss her very much. but just a short time we all will meet again. we love you all and know the heartache of losing her. but you family has touched our lives and heaven is now brighter. we love you all.
