Dock Owen Ingle, Jr., 81 of Asheville, died Thursday, October 8, 1998, at the VA Medical Center.


Mr. Ingle was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Dock Owen and Rachel Zeruie Smith Ingle, Sr. He was a retired veteran and had served with the C.B.I., 40th Portable Surgical Hospital in the Army during WW II. He also retired in 1963 from the General Services Administration.


He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and a member of the West Asheville Optimist Club. He was a member of the C.B.I. Veterans Association and a life member of VFW Post 891.


He is survived by his wife, Doris Bradley Ingle; a daughter Matha Ingle of Greenville, SC; a son and his wife, Brad and Rhonda Ingle of Asheville; four grandchildren, David Sparacino, Jason Bradley Ingle, Kenneth Owen Ingle, and Stacey Rochelle Ingle; a great-grandson, Kendall Brison Ingle, all of Asheville; a sister, Remalia 'Boots' Schell of San Francisco, CA: and a brother, Malcolm Ingle of Asheville.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday at Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. James H. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.


His family will receive friends 7-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home and request that donations be made to the Hospice Unit at the VA Medical Center, Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC, 28805.
