Dora Price Henson

Dora P. Henson, 88, of 2133 Jenkins Valley Road, Alexander, died Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was a daughter of the late Merritt L. and Rachel Packett Price. Mrs. Henson retired from the VA Hospital in 1974 where she worked as a medical transcriptionist. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Allen Woodrow “Woody” Henson; a sister, Alma Hughes of Asheville and four nephews who will serve as palbearers, Bob Hughes, Alfred Hughes, Mike Hughes and Carl Hughes. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
