DORIS CRIPPEN WRIGHT CANDLER – Doris Crippen Wright, 86, of Leelee Lane, Candler, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Wright was born in Emporia, Kansas, and was a daughter of the late Paul and Edna Rector Crippen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Wright, who passed away on August 17, 1988. She graduated from Miami Edison High School in Miami, FL., in 1942. She traveled with her husband throughout the world in his positions with the US Air Force. She retired from the Buncombe County Department of Social Services after 21 years, and then worked with the emergency assistance and food stamp programs. She served as Precinct Chairman for over 30 years in Candler. She was a longtime member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church and more recently a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for 40 years. She is survived by two daughters, Linda W. Fish of Candler and Donna Wright of Spain; grandchildren Shane Fish and his wife Pam, Donald James "D.J." Fish and his wife Rebecca, and Chrissy Fish and her husband Eric Burnette; great-grandchildren Colin and Katelyn Fish, Leah Fish, and Izabel Burnette; and step great-grandchildren Allison and Aiden Burnette. A memorial service for Mrs. Wright will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. David E. Peeler and the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, PO Box 639, Wilson, NC, 27893, and/or Mission to Spain, PO Box 1856, Candler, NC, 28715.

    Our heart goes out to you, but we know where our precious one is and just praise God that she no longer will ever go through any suffering!
    Doris was so very dear to me (Sandi) as we sat together at PC for the services and shared with each other every time. She was such a precious little lady and so very dear to my heart. I will miss her so at our services. May you all feel our Lord’s arms around you and take solace in the fact that your precious mother is with her Lord! She will be missed so, but I wouldn’t wish her back. We love you all.

I so enjoyed time spent with your Mama when she would come to Florida for a visit,such a sweet spirit.
