Doris Klara Curry, 98, of Mars Hill, NC, passed away at Mission Hospital on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Doris was born in Heilbronn-Böckingen, Germany, to the late Friedrich Karl Jakob and Maria Katharine Pauline Engelhardt Ruoff. Doris emigrated from Germany to live in the United States with her husband arriving at Ellis Island on July 4, 1948. She received her United States of America Certificate of Naturalization on February 10, 1954.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stephen Curry, her eldest son, Charles “Chuck” George Curry, brothers Alfred, Friedrich, Adolf and Karl and sisters Lotte, Else, Ruth and Siegrid.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna Curry of Westport Island, ME; her son, Bob (Karen) Curry of Barnardsville, NC and daughter-in-law Robbie Curry of Huntsville, AL; grandsons Chris (Marah) Curry of Harlem, GA, Bronson (Chee Pheng) Curry of Saipan, MP and Jeff (Karen) Madden of Huntsville, AL; granddaughters Tami (Lewis) Luke of Harlem, GA, Caroline (Zack) Hayes of Weaverville, NC and Penny (Mark) Tindle of Mobile, AL.

Great-grandchildren include great-grandsons Ashton (Caeley) Guthrie of Gardendale, AL; Cameron Guthrie of Baileyton, AL; Randy Madden of Huntsville, AL; Tripp Luke of Harlem, GA and Carter Hayes of Weaverville, NC; great-granddaughters include Morgan Luke (Tyler Abbott) and Lauren Luke (Preston Wright), both of Harlem, GA; Ashlyn (Conor) Weddle of Grovetown, GA and Bayliss Hayes of Weaverville, NC. She was also blessed with two great-great grandsons, Braxton and Briggs Abbott.

Her wish was to have no formal service and have her ashes sprinkled at the farm in Barnardsville.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family with cremation services.
