Doris Haynes Sauter, 74, of Emma Road, Asheville, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 27, 2001
in a local nursing facility.
A native of Barnardsville she was a daughter of the late Marion Ephraim and Zora Catherine Burleson Haynes. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon “Sherrie” Ann Sauter; sister, Mary Louise Sams and three brothers, James Ellis Haynes, John Roy Haynes and Julius Glenn Haynes, Sr.
Mrs. Sauter retired from Kellwood Company and was a nurses aid for Visiting health Professionals.
She attended Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daugher, Michelle S. Cox and her husband Paul of Leicester; a sister, Zora Imogene
“Jeany” Meadows of Asheville; three grandsons, Jeremy, Timothy and Jason Cox and a close friend, Robert “Bob” Lewis of Asheville.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Mrs. Sauter. She had called me to ask a favor shortly before her first stroke. I tried to call her back several times, but was unable to reach her. Apparently, this was about the time of her stroke, but I was not aware of it for some time afterward.
In any event, we know that she is in a better place today. We trust that the Lord will comfort those who remain, especially Mr. Lewis.
We would like to express our sympathy in the loss of Mrs. Sauter. We know that the Lord will be especially close to you all at this time and comfort you as only He can.
