Dorothea Jeanette Ahles

Dorothea Jeanette Ahles, 97, of Biltmore Forest, died Saturday, October 25, 2025. She was born in Fort Ticonderoga, NY and lived in Rome, NY until 1991 when she moved to Asheville, NC. A daughter of the late Russell Hart Jones and Grace Jeanette Wood Jones, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Donald Ahles who died in 1982 as well as a grandson, Russell Clement Stone, who died in 2000.

Dorothea was a former member of the Eastern Star and Twiggs, both in Rome, NY as well as the Rome Community Theater. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheville.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerieann Stone (Brad); son, Richard Ahles (Gilvane); four grandchildren, Autumn Hart Stone (Charles Bassing, IV), Philip Schuyler Stone (Sara), Christopher Richard Ahles (Alberta) and Justin Ahles as well as three great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Stone, Olivia Hart Stone and Christopher Ahles.

A private family celebration of Dorothea’s life will be held at a later date.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
