Dorothy Metcalf Crooke, age 93, died Monday, September 14, 2015.
A native of Madison Co., she was born in Mars Hill to the late Kelly Metcalf and Veva Roberts McMahan. She attended Mars Hill College, and moved to Buncombe County in 1949.
She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years.
She loved working with beautiful flowers and sold many to florists. She also loved doing crafts. She retired from the Square D Company.
Mrs. Crooke is survived by one son, Bart Crooke and wife Sheila; grandsons, Seth Crooke and wife Elizabeth, Jason Worley, Josh Worley and wife Myra; great-grandchildren Colton and Maddox Crooke, Jonas and Ryder Worley, and Wyatt and Henley Worley; sister Florence Fortin; brothers Jim and Mickey McMahan. She had 60 happy years with her husband, the late Thomas Atlee Crooke.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 til 3:00 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

The passing of such a sweet, kind, and dedicated lady. Her testimony was just being herself and was such a inspiration to everyone she met. She will surly be missed by her church family and has left such a empty space in the lives of family and friends, Shirley and I both will be praying for all of the family.

Our deepest sympathy to you with Dot’s passing. We cherish our memories of Dot and your dad at the DOT get-to-gethers years ago especially at the Christmas parties. Charlie told us that she was at Pisgah Manor. Ila is currently at Aston Park HCC and is scheduled for a pacemaker placement. She just turned 90. Again our deepest sympathy. Cherish your memories.
Bart, Shelia and Family: My love and prayers go out to each of you in the loss of sweet Dot. She was a shining example of what a true christian is all about. Always a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. I know she is rejoicing with Atlee today and you will see her again one day.
