Dorothy Mae Moore Ray, 84, of Old Brickyard Road, Etowah, died Friday, November 18, 2005, at Park Ridge Hospital.
Mrs. Ray was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Augustus H. and Ella Gibson Moore, Sr. She was married to Ernest A. Ray who died in 1987 and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Esther Mae Rollins who died in 1995, nine sisters, and four brothers. She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church and was a graduate of the World Wide Church of God Bible Study.
Surviving are three daughters, Ernestine Wells of Etowah, Adele Wells of Hendersonville and Helen Clough and her husband Don of Brevard; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Penland and Maxine Clark, husband Riley of Candler; and three brothers, Rev. Homer Moore, Jr., wife Betty of Candler, Roy Moore, wife Annie of Etowah, and Charles Moore, wife Ruby of Old Fort.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Moore, Jr. and Speaker George Meschenko officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
I am her great neice. I used to go to see her with my granny pendland. She was a good woman.
