Hendersonville – Dorothy Nell Smith, 83, went to meet her blessed Savior Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Elizabeth House.
A native of Buncombe County, she was daughter of the late Owen Eugene Smith and Ella Rhea Cothran Smith. She was a caregiver for many children and for the elderly and was a housekeeper. She was an avid animal lover especially cats. Dorothy was a member of Skyland First Baptist Church. She was a faithful witness for her Lord and Savior and loved everyone.
Surviving are several cousins and special friends, Gladys Wirtz and Gretchen Williams.
Graveside services for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at the Avery's Creek Christian Church Cemetery.
Friends will be received following the services.
Memorials may be made to the Elizabeth House 571 S. Allen Avenue Flat Rock, N.C. 28731.

Dot was a wonderful part of my childhood and I so looked forward to her visits and being with her and the Cothrans at the holidays. She was so much fun. I found her again and visited her often at the Asheville Manor but then one day she was moved and no one could tell me where she went so I have missed seeing her for the past few years. I will always remember her fondly. I visit the Cothran’s graves often and now I know where she is so I can visit her again. I loved her.
