E. Alvin “Tuck” Tucker, 93, of Asheville, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at Brian Center, Hendersonville.
Born October 10, 1917 in Chester, PA to the late Embra A., Tucker, Sr. and Sally King Tucker, he retired from American Enka Corp and worked at Black Mountain Golf Course after retirement. He was in the US Army in WWII, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe where he received the EAMET Campaign Medal with 5 stars; Good Conduct Medal; American Defense Service Medal; Distinguished Unit Badge; and Bronze Star Medal.
He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Maethorn Brown Tucker and his sisters Frances Nelon and Myra Williams.
He loved God, his country, his family, golf and all children.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his children, Sharon Woody Munn and her husband Charles, of Rockingham; Jerri Mitchell of Mauldin, SC; E. Alvin Tucker III of Woodfin and Joyce Neal and her husband Rick, of Asheville; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the WNC State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Webber officiating. After the service the family will be at Mr. Tucker’s residence.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flint Rock, NC 28731.

To Tucker’s Family,
I am sadden to learn of Tucker’s passing. He was a good man and a good Boss. My Mother and I were blessed to have both he and Maethron as our friends, and truely enjoyed their visits to our home. My deepest Sympathy, I extend to each of you.
