Edgar W. Ray, Jr., 67, died Saturday, April 30, 2016.
A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late Edgar W. and Mary Louise McElrath Ray, and he was married to Jean Marler Ray, who died in 2003. Eddie worked with Groce Funeral Home for more than 30 years.
He is survived by daughters, Cindy McMahon (Kevin) and April Payne (Ed); grandchildren, Colton, Addison and Amelia; and sisters, Sandy Rice and Brenda Burrell.
Eddie will be buried beside his wife, Jean, at Green Hills Cemetery with a private graveside service.

Sure was sad to hear about Eddie’s passing. He was a real friendly man – easy to talk to. I was always glad to see him helping with funerals. God bless his family,
Prayers for family of Eddie! Went to school with him, great guy & wife Karen knew his sisters! Unaware of his current condition, this is a total shock to us!

I am so sorry to hear this Eddie went to school with my sister in the sixties at Erwin and I grew up knowing him he was a great guy.
