Born in: Asheville, North Carolina
Resided in: Arden, North Carolina

Edna Allen Siler went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family at the age of 97 on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Edna was immensely proud of being born and raised on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina where she lived until the age of 19. Her father, Ernest Allen (mother Verna Allen), was one of the original farm managers for George Vanderbilt. Edna was a tremendous cook and well known for her famous biscuits, cakes, pies, and Sunday dinners. She grew a beautiful garden full of flowers and vegetables that she harvested and canned. She served faithfully at Biltmore Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Edna also enjoyed spending time with her friends as a member of the Red Hat Club. Edna embraced her roles as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother treasuring every moment with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jack Siler; her first husband, Joyce Henson; and her sons, Ronald Henson and Kenneth Henson.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Henry Siler; daughter-in-law, Allison Siler; granddaughters Rachel Siler Adams (William) and Hannah Siler; grandson, Kenneth Henson, Jr; and many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Edna’s life will be held at Green Hills Cemetery, 25 New Leicester Hwy, Asheville, NC 28806, on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at her home following the service.

We would like to thank her faithful caregivers Bonnie White, Erma Penland, and Mountain Home Care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edna’s honor to Four Seasons Foundation at fourseasonsfdn.org/ways-to-give/give-today/.

  1. Henry,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She and your Dad were big supporters of yours when you played football in the BVS program on the Midget Team. She was a gracious lady and her involvement meant a lot to the team and program.
May the Lord bless you and the family during this time.

  6. To Henry and your family-So sorry to hear about your mother. I have such fond memories of her when we were kids and carpooling with you all. I remember her warm smile and her grace and kindness. My mother spoke often about Edna and how much she missed seeing her long after we grew up. May you all be comforted during your loss by the Lord and His love.

  7. Prayers for you and your family. My memories of this beautiful lady lead back to Shady Oak Drive. (1960-1980) I lived across the street as a child. She taught me to cook and sew! I loved her so….
