Edna Gaddy Reed

Edna Gaddy Reed, 86, of 190 Pennsylvania Avenue, Asheville, died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at the Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Dallas and Emma Harris Gaddy. She was also preceded death in by her husband, Lee C. Reed who died in 1994; brothers, Dewey and Mitchell Gaddy and a sister, Wilma O'Bryhim. She was a retired employee of American Enka and a member of Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church. Her survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Cox and her husband Ed, Barbara Gibson and Delma “Pug” Warren; son Ronald J. Reed all of Asheville; sisters, Essie Rich and her husband Bill of Satsuma, FL, Frances Perham of Asheville; brother, Everette Gaddy and his wife Mary of Cleveland, TN; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Rev. Fred Carpenter will officiate with burial following in Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of a daughter, Dorothy Cox, 137 Bell Road, Haw Creek.
