Edna Jean Lanning

Edna Jean Ammons Lanning, 85, of Fletcher, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Universal Healthcare. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lorena Jenkins Ammons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade Ray Lanning, who died in 1987. She was a member of Arden First Baptist Church as well as the Fletcher Lion's Club and the Green River Chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Lanning and Rick Lanning and his wife, Melanie, all of Arden; one daughter, Vicki Lanning and her husband, Steve Eckerich of Fletcher as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Calvary Churchyard in Fletcher. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to www.alzheimers.org. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
