He was the manager of Asheville Acceptance and after retiring from Deal Buick of Asheville in 1985, he worked for the Home Detective Agency for many years. On May 1st he celebrated his 87th birthday at the VA Hospital with many friends and family in attendance, which was a joyous day for him. Along with his wife, his youngest daughter, Mrs. Millie Bell, preceded him to heaven. He also had two great-grandchildren, Kylee Baumgarner and Dawson Conrad. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am Monday at Bent Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Bridges and Associate Pastor Sam Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Along with his grandsons, Sam, Jon and David, pallbearers will include Les Gasperson, Billy LeFevers, his neighbor of 54 years, and nephews Dan McGlamery and Will Case. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff of the VA Hospital Hospice Unit where he received exceptional care and encouragement. 1. Ed, Sharon, Jenny and Jon,
I wanted to let you know I am thinking of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  2. Eddie really had a huge influence on our family through the years. He was very special and we loved him very much. We have known him for many many years! I can remember Eddie coming to pick up my Daddy (Cleo Faulkner) to take him to Deacon’s meetings at the church when I was a little girl. We will really miss him, especially in our Sunday School Class. He always had a smile on his face and a wonderful gift of prayer each Sunday. I know this time is very hard but Eddie is rejoicing with Jesus in heaven and that’s what he had talked about many times. We are so glad that Ray got to visit Eddie last week, it really meant a lot to Ray. May God comfort and bless the entire family!

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to you but know that you are rejoicing that he is in heaven with Jenia and Millie.

My family shared a special bond with Eddie when my father, Charlie Meares, was alive and we also attended Bent Creek Baptist Church and went on vacations to Myrtle Beach, S.C. What fun we had.

He was such a special person and will be missed here on earth.

    Sincerely

  8. Dear Family,

I just wanted to say that PaPaw has been on our minds since we learned of him falling ill. He always came into the restaurant with a big smile and a pretty lady on his arm. We will always be his ‘baby’ and know that his memory will continue to make us smile. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time.

    Sincerely,

    The girls at Harbor Inn

  16. Eddie was one of the most generous, kind and loving men I have ever known. He loved God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength and he loved his neighbor as himself. What a heritage he has left for us to try and follow. I will truly miss the Monday nights when we would spend time in prayer and visit the sick. The experience I shared with Eddie will last forever. I thank God for creating and allowing me to have known such a wonderful man, Eddie McGlamery Sr.

  20. Dear Mary Ann and Jean,

I spent lots of time at your home on Brevard Road when we were growing up and especially remember your wonderful parents. Your Dad was always so sweet and made all of your friends feel so welcome.
I last saw your Dad at my Mother’s funeral in November, 2008 and it was wonderful to see him after so many years. To me he looked the same as I remembered him and was still the same cheerful and sweet person as he had always been. I am truly sorry for your great loss but I know God is certainly happy to have him now.
    Susan Stamey Hickman

  21. Dear MaryAnn, Jean, Edward and Jim

How truly sorry I am to hear of your loss… today is a sad day on Earth but Heaven has opened it’s gate to a true and loyal servant.. No more pain, no more suffering but doing what he did best singing and praising the Lord….
The Austin reunion will miss him as you could always be sure of two things, good food and that Eddie would be there…
I will miss him and that great big smile and not once since I was a kid, do I ever remember that when I saw him he broke out in song ‘I walk down the street, my heart skips a beat, I say Hello Linda’ and then came the big hug… He never changed..

What a wonderful, funny and kind man, all that knew him will forever miss him.

    Love you all,

    Cousin Linda

  22. McGlamery Family,
What a wonderful man Eddie was!
I remember meeting him when I came to Bent Creek, about 28 years ago.
I thought then, that’s a man who really loves the Lord. Over the years, as I got to know him better, and observe his life, I knew that he was genuine, that the joy that was on his face came from his heart.
He ministered to so many people just by giving them his smile.

When my Mom started coming to Bent Creek she was so flattered by the joy and kindness he showed to her – she said he made her feel like he was so glad to see her every Sunday – that was his gift – to spread love and joy.

I know you will miss him, but just remember all the good times and know that you’re going to see him again soon.

    God bless
