Born in: Atlanta, Georgia
Resided in: Asheville, North Carolina

Elizabeth Parker Schoen Jarrell of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully in Asheville, North Carolina on Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was 79 years of age.

Betty is survived by her son Richard Phillips Jarrell, Jr. (Diane), her daughter Allison Jarrell Blake (Scott), and 5 grandchildren; Cole Parker Blake, Annette Elizabeth Blake (Anna Lee), Katherine Forsythe Jarrell, Elle Schoen Jarrell, and Richard Phillips Jarrell III (Trey). She is also survived by her brother Brooks Schoen (Chastine) and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles Carroll Schoen Jr. and Ruth Brooks Schoen Smithfield and by her brother Charles Carroll Schoen III and her sister Carolyn Schoen Scott and her granddaughter Gabrielle Elizabeth Jarrell.

Betty was born and raised in Atlanta and graduated high school from The Lovett School in 1964. She attended the University of Georgia and spent a semester studying in Hawaii.

After her children began college, Betty entered the workforce, first with Georgia Lighting and later with Decatur Federal. The work dearest to her heart, however, was her time at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she dedicated the majority of her career.

A devoted member of Christ Church of Atlanta, Betty was deeply loved and supported by her church family. She served on the Altar Guild for over ten years. Her faith and compassion extended with Christ Church through her service at E. Rivers Elementary School’s Good News Club, where she shared the Word of God with children from diverse backgrounds. Betty found deep joy in nurturing these young hearts with her love, kindness, and warm hugs.

Betty’s greatest gift was her family, and her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She never missed an opportunity to be present for any activity involving them. Her love also extended to her three siblings, nieces, and nephews, with whom she shared a special closeness and delight in being part of their lives. While we miss her deeply, we find peace in knowing she is now embraced by her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
