Elizabeth Forkin Minor, 81, of Asheville, NC, passed away on November 8, 2025. Elizabeth was born on September 25, 1944 in Green Bay, WI. She was the daughter of Edward and Margaret Forkin.

Elizabeth, affectionately known as Liz, graduated from Hutchison School, Memphis, TN, and Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN where she attained her Bachelor of Arts. She was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Liz received her Master’s degree in Counseling from University of North Florida, Jacksonville, FL.

Before joining Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville, NC, Liz was an active member at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Her faith led her to serve others and make a meaningful difference in countless people’s lives. She was a special education teacher, served within Dignity U Wear, and volunteered at The Church of the Advocate serving the homeless. She was also a member of the Junior League and Les Passees in Memphis, TN. She always left people feeling heard, encouraged, and welcome.

The constant in Liz’s life was Walloon Lake, MI. She never missed a summer walking the path, stargazing, and picking wildflowers there. She was a long term member of the Walloon Lake Country Club. Her adventures at the lake along with her love of new experiences, hiking, travel, and books provided Liz pleasure– but her greatest treasures were her family and dear friends.

Surviving family members include her beloved children, John Campbell Sherlock Minor III (Janay) of Asheville, NC, and Margaret Minor Hussey (Martin) of Chattanooga, TN; brother George Forkin of Jackson, MS, and Peggy McDonald of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Margie and Martin Hussey of Chattanooga, TN, and Riley and Rowan Minor of Asheville, NC. Her parents preceded her in death.
