Elsie Robinson Pope

Mrs. Pope was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late John Murphy and Viola Brooks Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Spurgeon, Ralph, G.C., and Harold Robinson. She was retired from American Enka with more than 40 years of service and she was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Ramey and her husband Buddy and Sandra Rhymer, both of Asheville; two sons, Brian Pope and his wife Janice and Ralph Pope, both of Candler; one sister Virginia Davis of Alabama; one brother, Ernest Robinson of Candler; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Greg Fox, Rusty and Bobbie Rhymer, Anthony and Shauna Pope, Cindy and Perry Christopher, Alex and Claudia Pope, Jennifer Pope, Tracy and Melissa Ramey, Matthew Ramey (and Maureen Herold), and Christopher Pope, and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Forest Lawn Mausoleum with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Ramey, Greg Fox, Rusty Rhymer, Alex Pope, Tracy Ramey, Matthew Ramey and Anthony Pope.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or to the United Way, 50 S. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

I was so sorry to hear of your mother’s death. I know how much she meant to each of you. I remember spending weekends at your house when we were younger and your mom fixing french toast for breakfast. Funny how at times like this you remember the little things in life.
