Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Memories, my life is a sum total of all the things that this wonderful woman and my grandmother taught me. I have had alot of mentor’s but Eris(boss) that was my nickname for her was on the top. she taught me how to do so much. And while we cooked she added faith, hope, love to every dish. when I thought we would never get thru a catering she would say ‘child this to shall come to pass’ and it did.Her passing is a celebration of the completion of the life of this wonderful person. So do not be sad she is exactly were she wants to be. My Prayers are with those she left behind. Kim

  2. to the family of eris,
please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss.my entire family had the honor of caring for her.me as her nurse,my daughter as her nursing assistant, and my husband as her housekeeper. eris reminded us of my grandmother who passed away seven years ago,in appearance, wisdom, and attitude.it was a blessing to us to be a part of her life.we will always remember her as a very strong and independent lady, who loved unconditionaly, but would share her opinion at any time!
God has chosen a very wise angel.
    love,

  3. **The Brownie Thieves!’

Angels smiled the day Eris was born, and are smiling again today at her return.

The memories of growing up in the kitchen at Highland, Ama’s kitchen and Eris’ gives me the warmest feelings. For the best brownies on earth, you had to go to Eris’ kitchen, and pick them up in large quantities, and rest assured that the short trip between Elmore street and Courtland was just far enough to get your hands on at least two of those brownies before Ama knew it! Eris’ brownies would often be frozen for future events, but, EVEN that did not keep us from snaking out to the deep freezer and snagging two or three to heat up and eat.

Although in our mortal world, of selfishness, its very hard to be sad, knowing Eris’ is in heaven with those wonderful women I grew up with in my life. Momma, (Betty Gay Merideth), Ama (Evelyn Anderson),Octavia Vance, and now Eris Suitt. We are going to miss you much 🙂

  4. I’ve known Eris all my life as she was an older sister of my mother. She was the aunt filled with equal parts fun and piety. I remember her sitting with a group of sisters; each trying to outdo the other by telling the most embarassing memory. No talk of hardship, just laughter. My favorite photo of Eris is her arm-in-arm with my beautiful daughter-in-law, heads together giggling about some private silliness. My children loved ‘Aunt Ese’ and knew she loved then without reservation.
Mother says Eris was a devout Christian since early childhood and remembers crawling over Eris to get in bed as Eris knelt praying. God gave her a heart of love and service. Love enough to spread among her large family, church friends, and beyond to all God’s creation. One day while cuddling my little lap dog she reminded me that God gave as much thought to the creation of a dog as he did to her creation.
If Eris had anything, she would share it – her love, time, energy, food, flowers, life. She was a gracious lady who lived a plain and simple life putting other people first.
I asked her once why she chose to live far away from her family. She replied, ‘My grandchildren are here among the mountains that protect and comfort me’.
    Precious memories comfort me now.

  5. I remember when I was 5 yrs old how Eris always attended church every week. She would sometimes bring the preacher home for lunch. I knew even way back then there was something special about Eris. I was actually in awe of her. I wanted to be more like her.
Dear Eris, you’ve been a loving sister all my life. I look forward to seeing you again in heaven. Shirley

  6. My Aunt Eris was the most loving and understanding person I have ever known. Until the age of seven, I spent every summer with her, and lived with her before joining the army. Her son Butchy was my brother and she was my mother. I love you Aint Ese, Stevie

  7. I have few memories of my Aunt Eris with me being the baby of my family and most of the time not living in the same city, but I do remember her as always being kind to me and my mother. I do know that my mother loved her dearly and I know they are now both singing with angels in heaven free of any pain.
