ERNEST S. HUGHES
Ernest Smith Hughes, 82,
of 908 Pisgah Highway, Candler,
died Wednesday, October 11, 2000,
in an Asheville hospital.
Mr. Hughes was born in
Yancey County and was a son of
the late William and Lockie Garland
Hughes. He was an Army veteran
of WW II and was retired after 30
years as an electrician at the VA
Medical Center.
Surviving are his wife,
Thelma Jarrett Hughes; two
daughters, Debra Hughes Buckner
and her husband Vernon of
Candler and Sharon Hughes Taylor
and her husband Steve of
Mandeville, LA; and two
grandchildren, Jason Buckner and
Shane Taylor.
Graveside services will
be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Pisgah
View Memorial Park with the Rev.
Furman Wilson officiating.
His family will receive
friends from 6 - 8 pm Friday at
Groce Funeral Home on Patton
Avenue.
