Estella Virginia Rabey Christopher, 92, of Asheville, died on Monday, October 2, 2017.
Mrs. Christopher was also preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lewis Christopher; sons, Jeff Christopher, LeRoy Parris, and Fred Christopher; and sisters, Mamie and Montez.
Mrs. Christopher is survived by her sons, James Lewis Christopher and Kyle Parris; grandchildren, Shane, Lindsey, Missy, Theresa, Sabrina, Chris, Colby, Laura June, Angie, Willard, and Kathy; 10 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Christopher will be held at noon on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Christopher's family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation & Care Center for the excellent care and compassion Mrs. Christopher received from them.
Growing up, Virginia and my Granny, Ruby Cook, were such close friends. I grew to love Virginia very much! She would always call granny and say…..send Kip down, I have made him a cake! Man could she bake a cake! I use to sit on her porch and talk for seemed like hours at a time. I have wonderful memories of Virginia, and thank the Lord that He crossed our paths!
Virginia has been a long-time valued friend of our whole family. She and my Mom could talk for hours on the phone and never run out of things to say. I know her son, Lewis, doesn’t know me but I have to tell him how much I admire the love and care he showed his mother.
