Eva Elizabeth Shroat Howell, 92, of Alexander, died Friday, July 12, 2002. Mrs. Howell was born July 27, 1910, in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Gordon and Bertha Young Shroat. She was married to the late Robert Herman Howell and she was a charter member and the oldest member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by six daughters, Alrie Hunter and her husband Ralph, Alice Huskins and her husband C.D., Annie Silvers and her husband Ray, Margaret Griffiin and her husband Bill, Shirley Keyes and her husband Howard, and Betty Robinson and her husband Bobby; twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Elders Ted and John Huskins officiating. Memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 290 Shepherd Branch Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.

    was very obvious what a great family you came from. Alrie and Shirley are the ones I have been able to keep up with, and I love you both very much. My prayer is
    that God will give you all special strength to carry you through this.
    Just think how bright heaven must be
    today with her wonderful smile added
    to it. What a joyous reunion is happening there today as our Heavenly Father welcomes her home.
