Asheville Butterfly TrailWith broken hearts, we share that our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece,and friend, Evadora Grace Jones, age 11, passed away on July 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Evadora Grace was the brightest light in our lives and in the lives of all those who were blessed to know her. Born on May 4, 2014, in Asheville, NC, she filled every day with love, and laughter. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh brought joy to everyone. As the youngest of three, she loved to tease and play with her two older brothers, Ryan and Reed, whom she adored. She was described by those who knew her as genuine, welcoming, and kind to all. She was silly, quick – witted and had a charisma that made people naturally gravitate toward her. She had a heart for everyone and exemplified pure love.
One of the most striking aspects of her young life was her passion for dance, which started at the age of 3. She was a talented and accomplished dancer who dedicated countless hours every week to her training at Center Stage Dance Studio, her second home. She loved her dance family deeply and made many cherished memories with them.
Evadora Grace recently graduated from Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School and was looking forward to attending Rugby Middle School with her brother. She was a gifted student who adored animals, especially her dog Lucy, and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian like her granddaddy. She also loved music, golfing, tubing down the river, and arts and crafts.
In the midst of our unspeakable grief, we are comforted knowing that Evadora Grace will live on in the four children’s lives that she saved through her selfless gift of life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter and unconditional love.
Evadora Grace is survived by her loving parents, Christopher Reed Jones, Sr., Evadora Carrie Boyd Jones, her beloved brothers, Ryan Patrick Jones II, Christopher Reed Jones Jr., Maternal Grandparents, Dr. Walter Eugene Boyd, Sr., Margaret Evadora Boyd (Jinx), Paternal Grandmother, Linda Jane Murray, Aunts and Uncles, Margaret-Sarah (Boyd) Alexander, Christopher Scott Alexander, Walter Eugene Boyd Jr., Annelise Terese Boyd, Harrison Talmage Boyd II, Kimberly Noel Boyd, and cousins Harrison Talmage Boyd III, Jackson Henry Boyd, and Katherine Noel Boyd.
Evadora Grace’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, August 1st from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 60 Church Street, Asheville, NC.
A reception will be held at High Vista Country Club following the service, 88 Country Club Road, Mills River. Parking for the reception is available at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2475 Brevard Road in Arden, NC 28704. Vans will shuttle guests between the church and the reception starting at 12:45 PM on Saturday.

I have watched from afar as your family has grown, shared and spread love and joy to family and friends. Eva Grace was clearly a shining star to you both, Ryan, Reed and so many others. My heart aches for you.

Evadora,Chris,Reed,and Ryan,I am hoping your wounds are healing. Evadora I have watched you as a baby Rn grow to a fearless leader,a wife and a proud mom of her children. I thought of your visit to our house and as you left, I asked if you were okay. In return you assured me things were good. To my surprise you let me know that you were pregnant! God chooses RedHeads carefully and he nailed it with you and Eva Grace, and of course my son Jeremy. Please know we love y’all as the days ahead are going to be difficult my thoughts are with your family and friends. What a beautiful little girl Eva Grace is. As she enters Heaven, my sweet mom will have another angel to embrace. Call me anytime if I can help or you just need a shoulder to borrow. Be Strong and always remember “It is okay, to not be okay” Myself, Jeremy and Jay are sending healing prayers to all of your Family. Dr Van Nort said to send his condolences to you. I did not know your sweet girl like I knew the boys, however, I always enjoyed seeing pictures on social media of her dancing. The passion for dancing that she felt, just radiated through pictures. Let her memory live on in everything you do! Let her story be a blessing. Mike, Calli and I will continue to pray for some peace in the coming hours, days, & years. We are always here for you. 💜
