Evelyn Elizabeth Meyer

Hendersonville ~ Evelyn Elizabeth Meyer, formerly of Asheville, died peacefully on October 14, 2006 at Life Care in Hendersonville, NC. She was born July 15, 1911 in Granite Quarry, NC and was the daughter of the late Frank E. Meyer and Daisy Grubb Meyer. Evelyn was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Meyer and Robert Meyer; and sister, Daisy E. Crenshaw. She was a graduate of the American Institution of Banking and the Government School of Aeronautics. After serving with the US Navy during WW II she worked with the US Department of Commerce Climatic Division for 30 years. Evelyn will be remembered for her selfless years of volunteer work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville. She is survived by her nieces Daisy Lee Moen of Arab, Alabama and Ellice Connell of Edgewood, New Mexico, a nephew Allan Meyer of Kennesaw, Georgia and her devoted friends and caregivers, Ilse Roff and Pam Kim. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of arrangements with memorial services being held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
