Faye is survived by her daughter, Vikki Welch and husband, Jim, of Kingsport, TN; sons, Graham Fox, Jr., and wife, Grace, of Florence, AL, and John Fox and wife, Julie, of Raleigh; six grandchildren, James Welch, III, and wife Elizabeth of Huntersville, Brynn Welch of Janesville, WI, Burgess Fox of Florence, AL, Frances Fox of Charleston, SC, Sidney Fox and husband Michael Coysh, of Raleigh, and Andrew Fox, also of Raleigh. Faye lived almost 80 years in the Oakley community and played the piano at Oakley Baptist Church for 40 years. She never knew a stranger and was well-known in the community for her green thumb. Faye's front yard boasted some of the prettiest roses and iris in all of Asheville.
Faye retired from the National Weather Service after 30 years of service. She was an avid fan of her boys' baseball teams. Despite being a working mom, Faye always found time to be a homeroom mother for her children's classes and loved to brag about her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at Oakley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Pierce officiating. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Sharon Durnin and her staff at Preston Place II in Kingsport, TN, who became part of Faye's extended family during the last three years of her life. They loved her, and she loved them right back.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Oakley Baptist Church, 70 Fairview Rd., Asheville, NC 28803, or to Preston Place II, 2303 N John B. Dennis, Kingsport, TN 37660.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Sissy, I’m so sorry to hear about Faye. She was always very sweet to me and made me feel like part of the family when I came to visit with Don. You and the extended family are in my thoughts and prayers.
We are very sorry to learn of Faye’s passing. We lived near Faye from 1981 till 2003, and really enjoyed visiting her and Graham. After we moved, we sort of moved away from her also, and for that we are sorry.
Please except our sincere condolences.

Vickki, Buddy, and John, What wonderful memories I cherish by having you as childhood neighbors on Hilldale Rd. Your dear Mother was very instrumental in my becoming a pianist, and every time I visited Oakley Bapt. she would have me play. Please know you and the family are in my prayers as God begins to heal your hearts from your great loss. Sincerely, Sonny

I worked with Faye at the NCDC in the late 80’s. She was such a special lady and friend. I am so sorry for your loss.
We want you, the family of Faye Fox, to know you have our sympathy during this time of grief. Faye and Carolyn were my neighbors on Hilldale Road in Oakley. I remember Faye and Carolyn as pianists in the original Oakley Baptist church. Our prayers are with you.
