Frances A. Hare
January 15, 1911 ~ March 19, 1999
Mrs. Hare was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late D.G. and Florence Frady Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Andrew W. Hare, who died in 1989, and by two grandchildren, Karen Wilson and Gerald Hyatt, and a son-in-law, Don Riddle.
She was the oldest member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where she served as pianist for 70 years. She was a dedicated Christian serving her fellow man. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and friends.
As her life continues in heaven, her life will continue on earth in the legacy she leaves. The joy of her Christian service, music, love for working with her hands, and tending the farm where she and her husband lived together all their married life, will be remembered by all whose life she touched.
She is survived by a daughter, Marian Riddle of Fletcher; four sons, Andrew W. Hare, Jr., James (Burl) Hare, the Rev. Don Hare, all of Asheville, and the Rev. Walter Hare of Chatsworth, GA; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dorothy Hare, and a very special life-long friend, Evelyn Miller.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Hagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
