FRANCES R. BURNETTE Frances Rogers Burnette, 81, of 39 Chester Place, Asheville, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Burnette was born in Haywood County and was a graduate of Canton High School. She was a daughter of the late Fred B. and Parsey Franklin Rogers and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel R. Howard and Ethel R. Mease. She worked as a secretary for several companies, including Talman Office Supplies and was an Avon Representative for 44 years, where she attained membership in the President’s Club and was an annual member of the Avon Honor Society. Mrs. Burnette had been a member of West Asheville Baptist Church since 1951 where she served as a Sunday school teacher in the Children’s Department for more than 40 years. Surviving are her husband of almost 60 years, William L. Burnette; a daughter, Cheryl Bland and her husband, Milton, of Boone; a son, Steven L. Burnette and his wife, Jan, of Washington, NC; and four grandchildren, Nathan Bland, Jason Burnette, Christopher Bland, and Brooke Burnette. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at West Asheville Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. James H. Johnson and Tony Hooper officiating. Burial will be at Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Memorials maybe made to the Building Fund of West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

    Janice and I had planned a trip to pegion forge and won’t be home till Wednesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family. Frances is better off than we are now but we still will miss her. Again we are sorry we will miss the memorial service, but we will be praying for you.

  5. I have so many happy memories of Mrs. Burnette and her family. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She impacted the lives of so many people. Our 3 daughters were fortunate to have her in Sunday School. We will miss her….but we know she is in heaven and one day we will see her again.

    Frances was an amazing, generous, woman who never complained, and was always willing to help others in any way she could. She was respected by all the Avon representatives that she came in contact with, always had a smile on her face, and wanted everyone to achieve their dreams. She is heaven’s gain and our loss. My heart goes out to your family, and I know your faith is strong and will help you day by day.

    Dorothy and I knew Frances for several years. She was one of the nicest people we have ever known. She will be missed very much but will always be remembered in a very special way.

  10. I AM SO SORRY ABOUT FRANCES. I USUALLY ONLY SAW HER AT THE PRESIDENTS CLUB LUNCHEONS , I DON’T GO TO THE AVON MEETINGS MUCH BUT I HAVE BEEN SELLING AVON FOR ALMOST 24 YEARS AND FRANCES SIGNED ME UP. SHE WAS ALWAYS SUCH A SWEET LOVING PERSON , ALWAYS WITH A SMILING FACE. I HAD NO IDEA THAT SHE WAS SICK. I DID NOT EVEN KNOW THAT SHE WENT TO SCHOOL AT CANTON. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL THAT KNEW HER ESPECIALLY WITH AVON !! MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU !

  20. We are going to miss Ms. Frances in our Sunday School Class. We loved her very, very much. She was always happy to see us and always greeted each of us with a smile and by our name. We know she loved kids!! Yesterday we talked about her being in Heaven now! Ms. Frances had a HUGE heart for kids and we are glad we were one of ‘Her Kids.’ We love you Mr. Bill and we have been praying for you!

She was very special to me and took a keen interest in my life and children, especially after my mother, Audrey, passed away.
