Frank Lane Cauble, 85, of Asheville, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Emerald Ridge Health Care Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Julius (Bits) Mitchell and Irene Ramsey Cauble. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Eugene Cauble, who died in 1989; a sister, Nedra Cauble Kincannon and a brother, Julius R. Cauble, who died in 2002. Mr. Cauble was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School where he was a drum major. He attended the University of North Carolina and earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee. A WWII Army Air Force veteran, Mr. Cauble had worked as a telegrapher for Southern Railway for 20 years and as a Lieutenant with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge John A. Nichols #650 AF&AM. He and his brother Julius were owners of Cauble Investigations. Survivors include his grandson, Ryan Franklin Cauble of Mars Hill College; daughter-in-law, Donna K. Cauble of Asheville; sister-in-law, Norma Rhuda Cauble; nephews, David Lane Cauble, Duane (Guy) Cauble and Gerry Douglas Cauble, all of Hendersonville; a niece, Elizabeth Kincannon Shore of Winston Salem; special friends, Sue Worley Hazlewood of Lexington, NC and Mikki Donavan of Fletcher. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend Ralph Sexton officiating. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Shelbourne Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

In life we are never ready to lose our loved ones and the only comfort comes from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends.   3. Uncle Frank was not only my uncle but one of my best friends.We had some really great times together and I will miss him dearly.

  4. Frank was a dear cousin. We were together as children until my parents moved West. We stayed in touch over the years and visited several times. He was a good, compassionate man and lived by the principles of his Christian faith.

  7. The family does not know me, but Frank was my first boss, hired me in 1976 to work in child support and for the county attorney at that time. He was a good person. I worked with him for 10 years and he was a great boss. He adored his son, Mitchell. He was also in the same nursing home as my mother, who passed on July 5, 2009. I am very sorry for your loss.   8. Dear Cauble Family: Frank was two years my elder but I remember him well from our childhood and school days. It appears that I missed knowing him for these later years. Of course, Julius and I were play mates, as well as Norma Rudy Cauble. May God bless and keep Frank at His right hand and give him the love and grace promised.   9. I worked with Frank in law enforcement and my wife and I are very sorry. Frank was a good man and was always very pleasant to work with. I found him to be a good friend to me.

  13. Frnak was such a dear friend to us through the years. We will always remember the good times spent with Frank. No matter what, he always had that smile and a kind word. Frank loved dogs and every time he came to our house, he would get in the floor and play with our dogs just like a big kid. He had such a sense of humor and we enjoyed his company so much. Frank loved his family and his friends and will be missed by all.

  15. Sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. When I lived in Asheville many years ago, Frank and I were competitors in the bonding business but he always treated me with respect and helped me in many ways. Frank was a gentleman and I enjoyed being around him. His presence will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  16. John and I worked with Frank for a long time in law enforcement. And continued with our friendship when Frank retired. Have not talked to him in quite a while but want the family to know how much we enjoyed his friendship and he will be missed..
