Frank McCame Worley, Jr., 74, of Asheville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Mission Hospital.

Born in Asheville, he was the son of the late Frank McCame Worley, Sr. and Geana (Case) Worley and is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David Taylor, and his former brother in law, Ron Lee Moore.

Frank graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville and was the supervisor and accountant for the ABC stores for the majority of his career. He attended Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville for many years where he served as a Deacon.

Frank was an avid reader and loved sports, especially baseball. He spent many hours on a baseball field watching his grandson, Porter, play. He never missed a game. Frank also enjoyed playing golf and loved teaching Porter how to play as well. An aviation and history buff, he was always interested in learning something new and increasing his knowledge. He loved learning and sharing all of his knowledge with his family. Frank enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. He loved telling stories about all of his journeys and had a sense of humor like no other. Frank was a youth league sports coach for many years and cared about his community. Most importantly, Frank loved his family, especially his daughter and grandson. He was a wonderful father and an amazing “Grandpa” to his grandson, Porter. Frank loved his grandson dearly and was always there to support him whenever needed. He was a friend to all.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Leigh Worley of Asheville; his grandson, Porter McCame Thompson; his former spouse, Sandra (Moore) Worley, a brother, Rusty Worley; a sister, Donna Fountain and her husband Jay; his former sister in law, Debbie Moore Batson and former brother in law, Roger Moore, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews that he was very proud of.

Frank was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at Kenilworth Presbyterian Church in Asheville on March 2nd at 3pm. The receiving of friends will take place at 2pm and a small reception will follow the service.

Thank you to Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian for assisting the family.
