Frank Paul Carter, 73, of Polk Co., passed into eternity Monday, March 6, 2023.

Born December 14, 1949, in Hamilton, OH, Frank was a son of the late Frank Reid Carter and June Broshar Carter. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Michelle, Michael, Steven and Eric.

Mr. Carter was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and worked as a Barber for over 40 years. He lived with his wife and family in North Asheville for 10 years, West Asheville for 24 years and in Polk County for 17 years. He loved nature, visiting National Parks, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and hiking in Pisgah National Forest with his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed the NC Arboretum and enjoyed traveling to Charleston and the Grand Canyon.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn “Jean” Lyda Carter; daughters, Paula Carter Hoover (Neil), Jennifer Carter Wharton (Adam) and Meredith Carter Kilpatrick (Brandon); grandchildren, Maya, Sadie, Nola, Lacie, Beatrix, Riker, Mollie, Bodhi and Brooks; and a sister, Paulette Carter. His favorite words to them was “I love you, always have, always will.”

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  1. Frank or Rooster was a great guy. We had many of good times the best was when he entered the Toughman and he gave my Boy his first haircut. Frank will be missed bu many.

  4. Frank was a great man. I met him years ago working together at Kelly’s Barber Shop in West Asheville. I later worked with him at Harold’s Barber Shop in Fletcher. Im so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for you during this difficult time. God bless.
